Personal Awareness Coaching

Our nervous systems show up in different ways throughout the day to help us navigate life. You are sleeping and your alarm goes off, that’s a jolt to the sympathetic nervous system reacting to your alarm ( a stimulus) telling you to go go go!

You come home from a long day eat a yummy meal and sit on the couch to watch some netflix that’s you shifting into parasympathetic, hopefully feeling safe and secure to rest and digest.

Our autonomic nervous systems go between fight, flight (sympathetic), rest and digest (parasympathetic) freeze (deep parasympathetic) and fawn (deep parasympathetic).

In the polyvagal theory we get stuck in different autonomic stress responses and have to experience them to release them to get to ventral vagal where our nervous system is toned and able to discharge stress allowing us to interact with others and take on the day.

This personal awareness coaching is to help you learn tools, such as different breathing techniques to discharge stress and move through your nervous system in a happy healthy way. Allowing you to feel more yourself and centered so you can experience the world and others in a calmer, less reactive state.

These sessions can also include connecting to your intuition and inner knowing to make better decisions throughout your day and life.

Session Description:

Check in; how is your mood? How do you feel in your body? Where do you feel stress in your body? How is your breath? Where is your breath? How is your mind? Heart? Stomach?

This is where we can also check in and can have a verbal unwinding or an active listening session to help settle the nervous system if needed.

Sessions can include

  • Breathing techniques (great for anxiety, depression, quitting smoking, high blood pressure with a doctors approval)

  • Verbal Unwinding: talking uninterrupted on a subject that is impacting your nervous system

  • Active listening, mirroring and helping understand what is impacting your nervous system

  • Self Lymph or massage to help release stress and tension felt in the body

  • Light movements to help discharge emotions held in the body

  • Eye movements to help release the vagus nerve and settle the body

  • Guided meditation

  • Centering to find your beliefs and deep inner knowing

  • and more….

Body Awareness Training

Do you ever just want to feel good when moving your body? That’s the goal of body awareness training.

Session Description:

These slow training techniques are meant to reestablish neurological connections between movements, muscles and your brain. This training is great for active people who are finding they are getting more stress and strain patterns and want them to be released so they can move with greater ease. It is also really good for individuals who have chronic pain or have a recent injury they are coming back from (ideally after connecting with their primary care provider and going through a round of physical therapy).

Techniques employed:

  • Breathing

  • Self myocardial release

  • Self massage

  • Pilates principles

  • Yoga principles

  • Somatic movement principles

  • Neruomuscular exercises and principles

  • Body weight movements

  • Mobility

  • Stability

  • Anatomy and function tutorials

  • and more….

These sessions are 1 on 1 and are done virtually over Google Meets. The first session is a deep physical intake mapping injuries or restrictions from both a subjective stand point (from you the client) and an objective stand point(observation) from the client doing movement assessments and me observing the different restriction patterns and posture deviations.

Everyone deserves to feel peace in movement.
